What is social media?

View: An anthropological introduction to You Tube by Michael Wesch

Resources about Our Visual World by Lynell Burmark

As a group identify and post 3 reasons to use social media in education.

Let's make our own instructional video ... Where do we start?

  • Storyboard (plan & script) a Public Service Announcement about using social media in your classroom.

Return to the bottom of this post and respond.

What digital resource will are you excited about, and how will it be applied to your academic discipline?

  • Record w flip camera
  • Edit with Windows Movie Maker
  • Upload to Teacher Tube
  • Attach to nyciblog & oitlive.com

Share your final projects!

During your break check out these resources to share with colleagues:

  2. In my video, I plan to use blogging. Blogging provides students opportunities to respond and talk about content discussed in class. It also allows students to continue the conversation out of class.

  6. My plan is to create a mini movie about blogging. I was surprised by the number of postings (approx. 90) in one period, that were on topic and interesting.

  7. I'm excited to allow my students to upload their work and their projects to teachertube and/or even youtube. My students are always working hard and we usually only post to my blog, but I think my special education students would be really excited to see how many people view their actual work across the world.
